Urban spaces are important In the formation of social institutions and values, and its reflectin on the individual life. In time these values give an identity to the city and throughout the history they are carr,ed to another dimension showing the main features of that city. In almost every era, if urbanization, urban transformation and tourism are the subject matter, the urban identity and the activities to be carried out are in the foreground. Today, the identities peculiar to the cities are of more importance than ever before. Even people try to develop projects in order for the cities to reveal themselves. In other words, social scientists work on different cities, carefully emphasizing urban structure, culture, urban land use, and especially urban transformation. In this study, the case of Antakya, Hatay, urban changes in how it affects the identity of the city and its social, spatial and cultural implications will be examined.
