Abstract :
The banks which provide money and credit to the economy became always important throughout the history. There is a link between the the progress of the economy in a country and the activities of banking. The economic structure of the countries is affected directly by the progress and development in banking system.Following the explanation and analysis of the development period of the banking system in history this paper aims to give information concerning the relations between Money and the economy during the period of the Ottoman Empire.It then attempts to give details about the banking system in late Ottoman Empire and early Republican era, the banking period for giving loan, the banking period for supporting the foreign capital, and the banking system for supporting the national capitals and the banking system in republican period. After these explanations this paper analizes and list the name of banks established as local banks and give general information about the pecularities of these local banks. One of the the most successful sample of these local banks is Akhisar Tütüncüler Bank which was named as Yaşarbak was transferred to the TMSF, and its activities were thus terminated. This paper gives information about the establishment, the aim, the structure of sharings, the important points in protocol agreements, capital structure, profit sharing, branches, profit and loss table from the view of historical methods and based on the materials left from these banks.
