DIAGNOSTIC BRANCHED TREE TECHNIQUE AND ITS USE IN THE UNIT CALLED CHANGE AND DIAGNOSIS OF MATTER IN THE PROGRAM OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY AT FIFTH GRADE
Abstract :
The aim of this research is to give information about the features of ‘Diagnostic Branching Tree Technique and by this technique to present an activity sample related to the subject “Evaporation-Condensation and Boiling” of the unit “Change and Diagnosis Of Matter” in the program of Science And Technology at fifth grade. Diagnostic Branching Tree Technique is a new assessment and measurement technique that need to make students reach a conclusion by giving true or false answers to related thesis in a tree diagram and by this way determining students’ knowledge patterning and misconceptions in their mind structure. Although this technique takes place in 2004 New Primary Education Curriculum, there is not required knowledge about practicing and theory of this technique in related documents. In the studies for evaluating New Primary Education Curriculum, it has been concluded that the technique is not applied sufficiently and primary school teachers don’t have enough knowledge about ‘Diagnostic Branching Tree Technique’. In this research, related literature has been reviewed and diagnostic branching tree technique’s main structure and features have been explained widely and a sample activity has been introduced for fifth grade science course.
