INVESTIGATING THE LEVELS OF USING SOCIAL CAPITAL IN PRIMARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS ALONG WITH THE VIEWS OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS
Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to be able to social capital useing levels in elementary and secondary schools examination of according to the views of school principals. For this purpose, data gathering tools were developed – 45 items for social capital– by the researcher. The data was analyzed t test and one-way variance methods. According to the results of the research; it is seen that one element of social capital is in “I agree” level, other elements are in “I partially agree” level. Regarding social capital level of schools, it is seen that there is a significant difference in the variables of “school type”, “gender”, “educational level” and “administrator mode”, yet, no considerable difference is defined in the variables of “school size” and “working year(s) - seniority”. As for the levels of social capital in schools, they are in “good level” according to primary school administrators in terms of “school type” variable and in “medium level” according to secondary school administrators. It is stated in terms of “gender” variable that male administrators are “good” and female administrators are “medium” and “lower” levels. They think that bachelors have “good”, master’s degree graduates and Ph. D. graduates have “medium” levels in terms of “educational level” variable. Social capital level are considered “good” by school managers and “medium” by assistant school managers.
