Abstract :
The article studies the economic and social life in Elazığ during the Democratic Party rulership. In the study, primarily under the economic life topic, the industrial and commercial developments, activities in agriculture and stockbreeding and zoning practices in Elazığ have been analyzed. Within the scope of the zoning activities, the buildings constructed in the city center, road and bridge constructions in the suburban areas, potable water networks in both urban and rural areas during the Democratic Party period have been scrutinized. The second topic of the study is the social life. Under this topic, throughout the educational and healthcare activities in Elazığ between 1954-1957, the social life is presented.
