مرکز منطقه ای اطلاع رساني علوم و فناوري - GEOMORPHOLOGICAL OBSERVATIONS RELATED TO ACTİVE TECTONIC IN ANTAKYA-KAHRAMANMARAŞ DEPRESSION

Abstract :

Morphological observation which is used upon tectonic geomorphology researches has very important effect for finding of morphologic units, changes and active tectonic. As geomorphologists have experiences related to field viewpoint from long years, they may able to explain different morphological problems or to associate different events. In this study, it is explained that morphologic shapes which are composed of effect active tectonic in Antakya-Kahramanmaraş depression which is very important fault zone (belt) of Turkey. Fault morphology is observed very clearly in Antakya-Kahramanmaraş depression. There are very young volcanic eruptions which are Hassa volcanic in the central of depression. There are also intensively depth and carrying forward walleyes splitting and asymmetric hills near the depression on the mountains site. There is not any fault morphology studies related to depression, but geological studies are very huge. Geomorphologic studies are not inadequate in the depression and its surrounding. The study aim is that young researchers will be experiment in terms of viewpoint morphologic observation and fault definition. They will think that morphologic methods are very important problem solution related the morphologic units and faults definition.
