PRE SCHOOL CHILDREN’S WATCHING TELEVISION HABITS and PARENTAL ATTITUDES

In this research, the correlation between the preschool children’s watching tv habits and parental attitudes are examined. As a main problem, have parental attitudes effect on children’s watching tv habits? What are the effects of the tv programmes being watched, on family and children? And what should parents do while choosing tv programmes for their children? Such topics are examined and suggestions were put forward. Within this research, the attitudes of parents, children’s watching tv hours, the programmes they watch, there asons they watch them and the expectations of the programme in terms of daily life, are tried to be evaluated within the range of preschool children, studying at primary school stied to Mersin Ministry of Education. As a method, a survey application and descriptive analysis are applied for parental attitudes. This research is supposed to be beneficial in terms of the suggestions such as, television watching habit is parallel to child’s developmental features and the determination of parents’ attitudes and behaviours as a result of this.
