LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE ON INDIVIDUAL PRIVATE PENSION SYSTEM IN TURKEY AND THE EFFECT OF GOVERNMENT SUPPORT IN PARTICIPATION TO PENSION SYSTEM
Abstract :
The private pension system has important function to overcome problems that may arise in the social security system in developed and developing countries. Private pension systems have gained importance to compensate possible negativeness in social security system in both developed and developing countries, with an increase in the level of welfare and prolongation of human life, increase in the elderly population. This system depends on mandatory in some countries and voluntary basis in some countries. The private pension system (PPS) has been started in 2001 in our country. While the contribution to PPS was less in the first years, it is clear that state 25 percent contribution to PPS which has been started after 1 January 2013,has positively affected the participation of PPS. However, research shows that awareness and attendance of PPS are low level in Turkey and increase of awareness will have a positive effect on participation to PPS. In this study, we evaluated BES system in our country, and rate of increase in attendance to PPS with the start of state contribution. It is determined that whether state contribution to PPS has effective for the development of PPS. For this, pension monitoring center statistics were examined. In addition to this, the study also attempted to determine the level of awareness of the PPS
