Abstract :
In our country , even if Turkish textbooks are prepared according to context of constructivist approach which is though as a criterion in curriculum, when acquisition which is targeted to gain is taken into consideration, pedagogically, many studies revealed that books have got a lot of mistakes. One of educational features of the book is images which are used with texts. It is hard to expect images which have not got any connections with text would be functional. In this study, the contact between text and image in Turkish textbooks that used in primary schools in 2013-2014 academic years was evaluated on primary teacher’s views. The primary teachers that work in Istanbul constitute the globe of research and also the primary teachers work in 10 schools in Istanbul constitutes the sample of research. On gathering datas the likert type scale that developed by researchers was used. On determining teacher’s views, the descriptive statistics were calculated and the independent- sample t-test and one-way ANOVA test were applied. Within the findings the views of primary teachers about image-text contact in Turkish textbooks do not differ in a significant way according to sexual variety. Similarly as no significant difference was determined according to occupational seniority and the school type that graduated, statistically meaningful differences were fixed according to the grade of class which is lectured.
