DEVELOPMENT OF RIGHT HAND TECHNIQUE FROM RENAISSANCE GUITAR TO CLASSICAL GUITAR
Abstract :
The purpose of this study is to examine the development of right hand technique through the evolution process from Renaissance guitar to present day classical guitar. In the research descriptive method was used for this aim and the data were collected by using documantary survey method. The research was limited with some types of guitars that took place in main stream music from the Renaissance guitar to the present day classical guitar so the other types of the guitars in the history of music are excluded. Accordingly the right hand techniques of renaissance guitar, baroque guitar, romantic guitar, Torres guitar and classical guitar was examined and the similarities and differencies between them were determined. The findings shows us that the right hand techniques were changed dramatically through the evolution process from Renaissance guitar to classical guitar. These changes were originated not only from the changes of the guitar’s physical proporties but also the changing of musical genres. And besides that some right hand techniques were dissapeared whereas some were protected through the ages. At the end of the study some recomendations regarding to usage of right hand techniques that used through the history in classical guitar education were considered by the author.
