Abstract :
This study aims to identify high school students levels of attitudes to wards reading in terms of several variables. This study used random sampling. Two schools, randomly chosen, and 377 students studying in these schools in Diyarbakır city center constitute the sample of this research. In this field study was used survey method. High school students attitudes towards reading were revealed as they are and the individuals were strived to describe as they are in the irunique circumstances. As data collection tools were used Personal Information Form and “Reading Attitude Scale” developed by Akkaya and Özdemir (2013) to collect data. In data analysis was used SPSS 17.0 data analysis software. T-test is preferred to test the significance between two groups while One-Way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) was used to test the significance for variables including more than two groups. The reading attitude of high school students in the study was found to be “Moderate”. While there exist significant differences for gender, school type, grade, learning area, father s and mother s education level variables, there is no statistically significant difference for family income variable.
