Abstract :
It is seen that anxiety level plays an important role for students learning Turkish as a foreign language in terms of improving and using language skills. In this regard, identification of elements affecting anxiety level regarding language skills (speaking, writing, reading, listening) will be guididing. In light of this hypothesis, this study aims to identify anxiety level of Iranian learners learning Turkish as foreign language and interpret their anxiety levels in terms of various variables. “Second Language Speaking Anxiety Questionnaire” consisting of 12 items and developed by Woods (2006) was employed in the study. Sample of the study is composed of 111 students who have been learning Turkish as a foreign language at Tahran Yunus Emre Turkish Culture Center at B level (intermediate) and C level(advanced). After data analyses, it has been seen that speaking anxiety level of Iranian learners learning Turkish as foreign language does not demostrate statistically significant results with regard to age, gender, educational status, language level, daily watching frequency of TV channels broadcasting in Turkish and frequency of listening Turkish songs. However, it has been seen that speaking anxiety levels of Iranian learners learning Turkish as foreign language show statistically significant results with the variable of frequency of daily speaking with Turkish native speakers.
