Abstract :
The aim of the study was to develop a scale in order to find out attitudes of high schoolstudents towards writing. The study group contained 400 9th-12th grade students studying at four different high schools in Malatya city center. Within the validity checking process, the construct validity and item analysis were performed. According to the results of exploratory factor analysis, it was observed that the scale consisted of a structure with two-factor (contributions, passion) which had fifteen items and those two factors explaied 49.41% of the total variance of the scale. The eligibility of two-factor structure of the scale was tested with confirmatory factor analysis. The goodness of fit index (x ² / df = 1.85, RMSEA = 0.055, SRMR = 0.056, NFI = 0.95, NNF U = 0.97, CFI = 0.98, GFI = 0.93, AGFI =0.90) obtained from the results of confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated that scale had a construct validity. Cronbach s Alpha method (α) and the Gutmann Split-Half and Spearman Brown techniques were used for reliability studies of the scale. The number of Cronbach s Alpha internal consistency of the sale was found as 0.88. The number of Cronbach’s Alpha internal consistency of the sale related to “contribution” sub-factor was found as 0.83 and the number of Cronbach’s Alpha internal consistency of the sale related to “ambition” sub-factor was found as 0.81. Analysis results showed that the scale was a reliable and valid tooland could be used in the studies of education.
