Abstract :
Collocations can be defined as linguistic units that enrich expression, make expressions fluence, and thus play an active role in communication. In traditional grammar books, collocations are termed as compound words. In modern grammar books, however, collocations are called as noun-verb incorporations, compunds consistig of free auxiliaries or light verb constructions. Using collocations as one of the by-products of least effort law affects language development and facilitates communication between individuals directly. The aim of this study is to examine theories and researches about collocations and to present different perspectives of these theories. Literature search is made in this study. The resources obtained were examined in accordance with the document review process. In conclusion, it was emphasized that the studies on collocations in Turkish must be increased both qualitatively and quantitatively, as well as findings obtained from this study must be took place in textbooks and other lesson materials like dictionaries.
