Abstract :
This study aims to determine and evaluate the pre-service teachers’ computercompetencies and the perception of technology use in terms of various variables. In this study, general survey model was used. The study population was composed of 4th year students at Mustafa Kemal University, Faculty of Education in the school year of 2015-2016. The sample consisted of 252 pre-service teachers who were selected from the population. “Technology Perception Scale” and “Computer Competency Scale” developed by Tınmaz (2004) were used in the study. Data obtained from the study were analyzed through frequency(f), mean(X), percent(%), ANOVA, Kruskal Wallis, Mann Whitney U, Spearmen Correlation Coefficient. As a result of the study, pre-service teachers’ computer competencies are no significant difference according to departments. It is determined that database and web page design were the most weak subjects. Male students have higher computer competencies than women and students that own computer and internet access have higher competencies than others. According to the department, there are differences in the perception of the use of technology and the difference was not seen by other variables. Besides, mean about technology competency and perception towards technology were compared in terms of different variables and significant positive relationship were observed.
