THE PERFORMANCE LEVEL OF THE INCLUSION STUDENTS TOWARDS THE SOCIAL STUDIES COURSE
Abstract :
The aim of this study is to determine the performance level of the inclusive studentstowards the social studies lesson. In this study, observation technique was used to gather required data. To determine the performance level of the inclusive students towards the social studies lesson unstructured observation technique was used to gather data.The study group consisted of 14 secondary schools and 39 inclusion students studying in these schools situated in Van province in 2015-2016 academic year. The data acquired from the students observations was analysed using content analysis method. As a result of the study it was concluded that generally inclusion students consist of Specific Learning Disability students (SLD); the performance level of the inclusion students towards the social studies lesson is not good; there is a serious difference between the current level and required level in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) students have; in general inclusion students understand simple directives and concepts (such as introducing him/herself, giving information about his/her environment) but don’t understand abstarct concept and long sentences; get bored quickly from the lesson, giving meaningless responses or no response when asking related to the lesson.
