Title Of Article :
THE EFFECT OF THE EDUCATIONAL GAME METHOD ON ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AND MOTIVATION TOWARDS SCIENCE LEARNING IN TEACHING OF CIRCULATORY SYSTEM
Abstract :
The purpose of this research is to find out the effect of teaching the “the Circulatory System”subject, which is covered in the 6th grade science course, through the educational game method onstudents’ academic achievement and motivation towards science learning. The sample of this study consists of a total of 42 students from two 6th grade sections of a middle school in the 2015-2016 academic period in Erzurum. One of these sections was set as the experimental group in which the educational game method would be carried out (n=20) while the other section was set as the control group in which program based learning would be conducted (n=22). The sections were randomly appointed as the experimental group and the control group. Pretest-posttest control group quasi- experimental design, which is an experimental research model, was used. The data were collected via the, Academic Achievement Test and the Students’ Motivation toward Science Learning Questionnaire. The data were analyzed via descriptive statistics, ANCOVA and independent groups t-test. Theexperimental group students were seen to have significantly higher academic achievement in comparison to the control group students. The experimental group students were determined to have statistically significantly higher motivation towards science scores compared to the control group students taught via the program based learning after the experiment.
