EFFECT OF VIDEO-ASSISTED MENTAL TRAINING PROGRAM ON SHOOTING SKILLS IN SOCCER
Abstract :
Purpose: The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of video-assisted mental training program on shooting skills in soccer. Method: 30 athletes between the ages 13-14 participated in the study. The subjects were divided into three groups as physical training (PG, n:10), mental training (MG, n:10) and physical and mental training (PMG, n:10) groups. 3 days each week for a total of 4 weeks, PG took only physical football training, MG took only video assisted mental training program and PMG took mental training program before each physical training. Mor-Christian Shooting Ability Test Station was used to measure shooting ability and the measurements were taken twice, one on the first day of training period and the other on the last day of training period. Obtained data were analyzed by SPSS for Windows 16.0. Paired Samples T Test was used for intra group analysis, One Way ANOVA Test was used for analysis of between the groups and Tukey HSD Test was used to determine in which group the differences were. In study significance (p 0.05) was found between T1 and T2 of PG and of PMG. No significance was found between T1 and T2 of MG. Significance (p 0.05) was found between PMG and PG, and between PMG and MG. no significance was found between PG and MG. It can be said that , video-assisted mental training has positive effects on shooting ability in soccer, and use of physical and mental training is more effective than only physical or only mental training, and should be planned together as mental and physical training during annual training plan
