THE COMPARISON OF ANAEROBIC POWERS OF BASKETBALL PLAYERS CONSIDERING THEIR PLAYER POSITIONS
Abstract :
This study aims to compare the vertical jump and anaerobic powers of basketball players who play in different positions such as pivot, forward and point guard of a basketball team. The subject of the study was 40 basketball players of university basketball teams who had been training for 5 years or more. The vertical jump levels of the players who participated in the study were measured and their anaerobic powers were calculated. One way ANOVA test was applied in order to determine the vertical jump and anaerobic power value differences of basketball players depending on their player positions. P 0.05 level was considered significant. As a result of the study, it was determined that there was a significant difference between the pivot, forward and point guards in terms of vertical jump and anaerobic power. The reason for pivot players having lower anaerobic power values can be explained with both their individual characteristics and the difference between the training programs depending on their player positions. In order to be successful in basketball; pivot players must develop their vertical jump abilities and increase their anaerobic powers.
