Determination of Bioclimatic Comfort Zones for Province of Izmir
Abstract :
Today’s world all the technological efforts are used to make human life more comfortable. Scientists attack importance to creating bioclimatic environments with appropriate climatic conditions where people feel healthy and dynamic. In this study, Bioclimatic comfort zones have been identified within the boundaries of the province of Izmir. The hourly wind chill temperature values were calculated using the hourly temperature, humidity and wind data for many years. The wind chill temperature maps have been prepared using the simple kriging prediction maps method with GIS for 12 months. the yearly wind chill temperature maps were obtained taking into bioclimatic comfort conditions, and bioclimatic comfort areas were determined on the map for Izmir. As a result of this study, most of the residential areas in Izmir is not appropriate for bioclimatic comfort such as Konak and Alsancak, and the appropriate areas were observed from distance of the city center.
