Title Of Article :
The Effect to the Strength of Fatigue of Surface Hardening Process by Ion Nitriding to the Stell of AISI 4140
Abstract :
Mechanical components fulfilling the functions expected of them, the inside surfaces of the parts greater than the high stress and are exposed to abrasive forces. This stress limit is exceeded the material strength and surface forces on the surface of the material starts cracking. Variable forces if they are a load of machine parts and a certain repetition of fatigue occurs after the piece suffer damage. Tired of the vehicles axle shafts are exposed to many car company uses AISI 4140 steel was. This steel high-pressure and shock-resistant. Due to superior mechanical properties, are used in a wide range. Variable forces remaining under the surface resistance of such components should be increased for a long life. For this purpose, the surfaces of machine parts made by various methods of surface hardening. Surface hardening of parts with the rise of mechanical abrasion resistance, impact resistance on the part of the inner regions are not affected by increasing the fatigue life is prolonged by delaying the formation of cracks on the surface. In this study, the AISI 4140 steel was ion-nitriding hardening process applied to the surface, fatigue strength was investigated. Fatigue tests 450 0C for 18 hours and 19.5 hours in the samples applied to ion-nitriding process. At the same time to compare the fatigue strength of AISI 4140 steel samples were prepared untreated. Surface hardening process was prepared as a result of fatigue specimens were subjected to experiments in rotating Bending Fatigue. Applied to samples taken from the experiments results are interpreted.
