CERAMIC AND MOULD GYPSUM PROPERTIES USED FOR FORMING CERAMICS
Abstract :
Ceramics production is a very difficult and complex process which includes the stages from preparingappropriate quality raw material till the final stage that the product is obtained. Casting is a forming method made by open or closed casting of liquid consistency clay. In this method excess water should be absorbed by mould because of the consistency of clay. Therefore absorption of gypsum mould must be increased without decreasing its strength. Gaining such properties and increasing mould service life will have important contributions to the sector in point of product quality and production cost. A compilation has been made about history of ceramics and current status, gypsum mould, usage of gypsum mould, application problems and solution offers. In order to provide expected properties from gypsum moulds, an investigation about availability of mineral additives, their ratio in mix and their effects should be carried out as is concluded.
