Abstract
Nihilism as a way of thinking is the common name of views that know no value. Historically nihilism as a view that can be taken back to Sophists and especially Gorgias expresses a way of thinking and living that the feelings of meaninglessness, emptiness and nihility inspire. Nihilism in Nietzsche’s system of thought appears as a historical movement, not as a way of thinking that occurs in any time of the Western thought. In fact nihilism is essentially a basic event in the Western history. It is the realization that all values have lost their values and all values must be re-evaluated. Nihilism is a philosophy upon whose shield the denial of life is inscribed.
