The Relationship between Communication Style of Managers and Conflict Management Style Used by Them

Abstract
The purpose of this study is to determine the perception way of subordinates with regard to their managers’ communication styles and the conflict management style preferred by both subordinates and their managers, and therefore to reveal the relationship between organizational communication and conflict management. With this purpose a research was practiced on total 100 hospital personnel including employees who work in a public hospital and a private hospital. In the research, “Communication Styles Scale (CSS)” and “Rahim Organizational Conflict Inventory-II (ROCI-II)” survey instruments were used. Data from surveys was analyzed by SPSS statistical program. According to research results, “Evaluator - Motivator Communication Style” was determined as the perception way of subordinates with regard to their managers’ communication styles. “Integrating Style” was determined as the conflict management style preferred by both subordinates and their managers. At the result of correlation analyze, no relation is found between the perception way of subordinates with regard to their managers’ communication styles and the conflict management style preferred by both subordinates and their managers.
