Abstract
Business establishments are forced to transform as a consequence of latest developments in information technologies, expeditious introduction of new products into markets, and swift shifts in customer demands and needs. Under such circumstances, the primary resource of corporations holding competitive edge is considered as their innovativeness. Such corporations adopting innovation processes are clearly the ones with flexible structures enabling them to adjust market changes. Under changing competition conditions as a result of globalization, satisfying customer demands and needs replaces the priorities such as quality, cost, and speed; and consequently corporations are required to develop new products and processes, and to modify their organizational structures. This study seeks to clarify the relationship between innovation activities and performance through comparing medium size and larger size corporations. Data have been gathered from 105 medium-size and larger size firms located in Kayseri. The relationship between innovation fields and innovation activities implemented by these firms and their performance has been established. The innovativeness level, innovation activities, and performance relations in corporations of various sizes has also been examined. Research results have indicated that a hefty majority of the firms execute high levels of innovations, and there is a relationship between the size of firms and the innovation activities implemented. It was also seen that there is a relationship between innovation activities and performance of the firms.
