Abstract
The aim of this research is to examine the in-service training requirements of Turkish language and literature teachers in terms of various variables. The research is a descriptive study in general scanning type. In-service training which is one of the most important ways of life time learning, plays a very important role in self development and self education of the individual. Education is the most important leading factor in all kinds of development and change in societies. The teachers who prepare our future should also continuously update themselves and adapt the changing and developing conditions. From this point of view, a study group consisting of 152 teachers that are on duty in Erzurum city center were formed in order to examine the in-service training requirements of Turkish language and literature teachers. In-service training requirement determination survey was applied to the study group. For data analysis in the research, t test and variance analysis (One-Way ANOVA) were used. According to the findings obtained from the research, it was understood that the in-service requirements of teachers do not vary according to gender, rank and age variables. However in the personal development dimension of the education status variable and teachership profession knowledge and field knowledge dimensions of participation to the in-service training variable, it was understood that in-service training requirement varied significantly.
