Abstract
This study examines the effects of information technologies (IT) usage on organizational culture and the relationships between the two concepts. It is considered that the study which has a holistic approach to IT will make a valuable theoretical contribution to the literature and the current understanding about the relationships between two concepts, unlike from the studies in the current literatüre, almost all of them on the relationships between some spesific IT usage and organizatinal culture. Necessary data were gathered from the white collar employees in the large scale industrial companies located in İstanbul, and analysed through SPSS software. In conclusion, neither direct effect of IT on organizational culture nor relationships were found out. This result supports the studies in the current literature that suggests no relationships between IT and organizational culture. In order to explore the relationships between two concepts, which have different paces of change, it is needed to undertake studies of long period. Additionally, this study concludes that each IT might have different inherent characteristics, that same technologies can have different meanings to the different individuals with different cultural backgrounds, and that all IT don’t have the same functions and features is a wrong assumption.
