Abstract
Financal Literacy is very important to improve the level of knowledge on financial matters and attitude and behaviour of individuals who are important actors of the system in getting more complicated financial environment. In our country, the trainings of Financial Literacy were organized for the first grade university students, without making department differentiation, as part of the activities of creating awareness for financial awareness. Accordingly, survey forms were implemented to 335 students continuing their education in a faculty giving “Financial literacy” training (N=1.380), and their financial literacy levels were investigated in 4 dimensions such as expense, attitude, perception and interest; and it was tried to find out the differences between their departments, whether they were educated about finance, their demographic specifications and financial literacy. The results show no differences by age for these four dimensions. As for the perception, the financial literacy perceptions of the students receiving financial training were found to be higher than those who do not. On the other hand, the sub-dimension scores of the financial literacy scale show a significant difference by students’ departments. Also, financial literacy average scores of the students by class variance show significant difference in perception and interest sub-dimensions: the perception means scores of the second-grade students were higher than the others while the perception means scores of the first-grade students were found to be lower than the upper grades.
