Abstract
In this study, the attitudes of prospective social studies teachers towards environmental problems were analyzed by considering various variables. The sample of the study conducted with the screening model consists of 455 prospective social studies teachers studying at the Niğde University Faculty of Education. As data collection instruments in the study, the Environmental Attitude Scale developed by Şama (2003) and the personal information form were utilized. As a result of the analysis of data obtained in the study, it was determined that prospective teachers had a positive approach towards being concerned with environmental issues and furthermore, there were significant differences between the variables of gender, awareness perceptions towards environmental issues and the frequency of keeping up-to-date on environmental issues through the media and attitudes towards the environment.
