Abstract
In this study, the space was read with feminist perspective on case of the Central Business District (CBD) of Balıkesir city. This research is a qualitative research and based on feminist perspective. The research is completely based on discourse analysis, and the method of data collection is observation. Within the scope of the research, the mutual construction of gender and space intended to understand. The aim of the study is to understand the relationship between gender and space as a produced and producer phenomenon. Within the scope of this study, space production of gender relations and the construction of space with gender relations was read through the space in the CBD of Balıkesir. The aim of this study is to make social and spatial inequalities visible on the basis of gender. The results show that the masculine construction of the space with some aspects like narrowness-wideness, lightness-darkness, openness-closeness, security-insecurity levels and usage functions of streets and roads, place names, size of spatial constructions, city subjects and symbols and the masculine usage functions in daily life in CBD increase the masculinity of the city.
