Analysis of economic efficiency at forest enterprises with TOPSIS method

Abstract
The main units that realize the forestry activities in Turkey are the state forest enterprises. Economic efficiency at forest enterprises is an important principle. The aim of this study is to analyze for economic efficiency between the years 2006 and 2010 at the nineteen state forest enterprises bound to Antalya and Isparta regional forest directorates located at the Western Mediterranean Region in Turkey. TOPSIS (Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solutions) method was used in the study. Six evaluation criteria were based on analysis of economic efficiency. According to results of the study; the most successful enterprises in terms of economic efficiency are Serik, Taşağıl and Kumluca in Antalya Regional Forest Directorate and Bucak and Sütçüler in Isparta Regional Forest Directorate. In addition the most unsuccessful enterprises are Antalya, Isparta and Elmalı forest enterprises in terms of economic efficiency.
