Abstract
In this study, it was aimed to determination of essential oil contents and components of Sideritis libanotica Labill. subsp. linearis (Bentham) Bornm and Origanum sipyleum L. which are endemic species from Lamiaceae family in Turkey. The samples were collected from Antalya and Isparta districts of the Western Mediterranean in 2007/2008 and were brought to Forest Botany Laboratory of Faculty of Forestry at Süleyman Demirel University. They dried in room conditions and distillated Clevenger type hydro-distillation apparatus for 3 hours and essential oil yields were calculated. Components of essential oils were determined by GC-MS (Perkin Elmer). As result, essential oil ratios of S. libanotica subsp. linearis and O. sipyleum were determined as 0.175% and % 0.16% respectively. The most effective components of S. libanotica subsp. linearis were determined as α-bisabolol (30.85%), β-phellendrene (25.29%) and Germacrene-D (8.68%). For O. sipyleum, γ-terpinene (45.46%), p-cymene (24.29%) and caryophyllene (9.74%) were found most important. Results were compared with the other studies which were put forwarded by same species in other regions of Turkey.
