Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the relationship between unemployment and divorce by using panel causality in the 26 sub-districts of Turkey. In the analysis, the panel unit root test, panel cointegration test and panel causality tests were used. The results of the analysis show that there is a strong causality relationship between unemployment and separation, and the direction of causality is negative. This situation is explained with the economic and social costs of divorce. The hypothesis of “Unemployment has positive impact on divorce.” is not valid for Turkey.
