Abstract
In a particular area people name places which was only known by the residents there and mostly not shown on the maps. Farm, meadow, fountain, well, spring names that are used generation to generation, are the main subject of Microtoponymy in the field of Toponymy. As well as natural factors such as flora, fauna, geomorphology and hydrography, sociocultural structure, agriculture, livestock and forestry in that region also have led to Micritoponymy to arise. In this study, it has been focused on the microtoponymies that raised as a result of the forestry and tree industry which are the main important economical operations in Ayancık from past to today, a town of Sinop and its inner circle towns. Forestry in Ayancık, which is one of the places that forestry operation and tree industry first established in Turkey, has still been a vital economic activity. From its first time to today, forestry operation and tree industry that established in 1929 in Ayancık, has been an important factor in naming the street names in the city center; bridge, ramp and position names in country. In our country, the obligations to respond to foreign words and the failure we have experienced in this regard have become more visible in recent years. Considering the difficulties in deriving new words and new place names in native language, the applications of Zingal Company in Ayancık region can be seen as a model for solving problems that are present in this area today.
