  • Abstract
    Launched by the political power in Turkey in 2006, a university for each province primarily by government policies, including private universities with many new universities were formed. According to YOK data there are 206 universities as of May 2019. These universities are 129 of state and 77 of foundation universities. Universities where positioned area bring with on the one hand cultural changes on the other hand economic and demographic changes. Especially the universities, established in the settlements other than the status of metropolitan cities lead to significant changes in the related fields. In this sense, Karabük University has attracted attention due to its establishment and its reaching a high number of students in a short period of time. In Karabük city, settlements close to the university, in a short period of time, increase in population, shelter and demand in business lines; has caused the settlements to grow horizontally and vertically. The most marked example has been experinced at 100. Yıl District. For this purpose, the sociospatial changes in the 100. Yıl District were analyzed according to the geographical context.
