  • Abstract
    Urbanization covers not only the increase in the number and population of the city, but also the social, cultural, economic changes and their consequences. Policies aimed at meeting the housing needs of the population, which intensified with the migration movement after industrialization, could not be developed and unplanned structures occurred in the cities. Transforming these areas and bringing them back to the city has become an important situation and policies aiming to recycle have been developed. All of these policies are called urban transformation. Urban transformation policy is defined as reconsidering urban development spatially, socially and economically and making problem areas livable. Identifying the problems of the areas and producing solutions in the process of urban growth is an important requirement that will contribute to improving the quality of life in the city. In the study, the development area in the urban growth process in the northeast of Kastamonu city is discussed. In the area, which is an important development area of the city, both urban transformation applications and mass housing constructions are carried out together. Problems arising from the survey study conducted with the inhabitants of the development area were tried to be identified and strategies for the area were developed in order to solve these problems and to eliminate the deficiencies.
