Abstract
Leaf spring systems are one of the most important suspension equipment especially used for heavy vehicles in automotive sector. The main task of a leaf spring system is to attenuate external forces of different types and intensity to which vehicles are exposed. Leaf spring systems have to be subjected to long life tests using high precision test stands before mass production. In addition to the ability of precise measurement, these test stands should also have a flexible structure that allows the leaf springs of different sizes, different types, different materials and different loads to be connected. In this work, a precision test stand has been designed in order to allow the leaf spring system to be tested under external forces of different types and strengths produced by a hydraulic system. In the test stand designed, the hydraulic unit is being controlled by an electrical unit. By means of this electrical unit, the hydraulic system can be controlled so as to produce and apply different forces in desired periods. In addition, the main body of the system is designed so as to contain a plurality of holes in order to develop a flexible test system for all types of leaf springs. By means of the test stand designed in this study, the strength, service life, strain and deflection calculations of the leaf spring systems will able to be tested with high precision.
