Abstract
The aim of this study is to synthesize silver nanoparticles via green synthesis using water extracts of some herbal drugs which can be obtained easily and inexpensively. In this study, water extracts of some medicinal plant drugs, which are also used as spice, such as lavender flowers, fennelflower seeds, black pepper seeds, pine leaves, clove flowers, rosemary leaves, thyme leaves, sage leaves, laurel leaves, alkanna roots and green tea leaves were utilized as a reducing agent in the synthesis of silver nanoparticles. The extracts were mixed with 1 mM silver nitrate solution and their color changes and intensities were examined. Silver nanoparticle formations were also confirmed by UV-Vis spectrophotometric analysis. Alterations in pH values were also recorded. According to the results, all the plant extracts can be used as a bioreducing agent for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles and they all exhibited different characteristics, which will be beneficial for different applications in nanotechnology.
