Abstract
In this study, the effect of topographic characteristics on soil properties were investigated. For this purpose, a formation with volcanic parent material was modeled in Geographical Information Systems environment. Six soil profiles were as excavated in two different view groups and three different elevation classes formed on volcanic ash. Soil profiles have been identified and soil samples have been analyzed. Soil sand and coarse silt content were higher than 30% in all profiles. It was determined that the volume weight was higher than 0.90 g / cm3 in all the profiles. The phosphorus absorption capacity of soils was generally found above 85%. The content of Al + 1/2 Fe in the ammonium oxalate required for the andic soil definition was found lower than 2% in all the profiles. As a result, the properties of elevation and viewshed were effected on the soil morphologies but the topographical classification of the study area was not sufficient for the andic soil characteristics.
