Abstract
In this study, the shortening of the breeding period was targeted in safflower (Carthamus tinctorius L.) by zygotic immature seeds culture on the 12th day after hybridization. Dinçer 5-118, Remzibey-05 and Balcı varieties were used in this study and the hybridizations were done according to half-diallel hybridization method. The general success rate was 48.55% in hybridization and 584 numbers zygotic immature seeds were cultured from 150 receptacle during the study. As a result, the highest success rate of regeneration in cultured embryos was obtained from M5519 medium (15.82%) followed by MSD4 (13.43%) and LS2.5 mediums (6.21%). As a result, hybrid seed production can be achieved by using the embryo or zygotic immature seeds culture technique in the safflower and the breeding process can be shortened. Based on these results, the nutrienth media, used for embryo culture, should not be including hormones such as BAP and 2.4 -D. If the growth regulators are added after seed germination and the plant is obtained, will be increase success rate.
