Abstract
This research was conducted to investigate the effects of seven different nitrogen doses (0, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250 and 300 kg ha-1) on the yield and quality of some annual ryegrass species (Alberto, Devis, and Baqueano) at the experimental area of Agricultural Faculty of Isparta University of Applied Science under Isparta ecological conditions in 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 vegetation periods. This research was conducted in a randomized block design with three replication. Plant height, stem thickness, hay yield, crude protein ratio, crude protein yield, ADF and NDF ratios were investigated. According to average results, nitrogen applications increased plant height, stem thickness, hay yield, crude protein ratio, crude protein yield while it decreased ADF and NDF ratios. When the differences between the cultivars were examined, it was found that Devis in terms of plant height and ADF ratio, Alberto in terms of stem thickness, hay yield, crude protein ratio, and crude protein yield, were higher values. According to the results of this study, it can be recommended to apply 250 kg ha^-1 nitrogen dose for high forage yield and quality in Italian grass farming under Isparta ecological conditions, considering environmental pollution and economic conditions.
