  • Abstract
This research was conducted to determine yield and some quality characteristics of silage maize varieties at Isparta University of Applied Sciences, Agricultural Faculty, Education, Research and Application Farm in 2018 and 2019. This study was carried out according to a randomized complete block design with three replicates. In this study, six silage maize varieties (DKC721, Hido, Kilowatt, Kolosseus, LG30709 ve PR31Y43) were used as material. The characteristics examined in the study were hay yield, crude protein content, crude protein yield, ADF, NDF, total digestible nutrients and relative feed value. According to the two-year average results, the highest hay yield was determined in Hido (25.66 t ha^-1) and Kolosseus (24.75 t ha^-1) varieties, while the lowest hay yield (20.96 t ha^-1) was obtained from the PR31Y43 variety. The highest crude protein ratio (9.20%) was obtained from the PR31Y43 variety and the lowest crude protein ratio (7.28%) was obtained from the Kolosseus variety. Hido variety in crude protein yield, relative feed value, NDF ratio, Hido, Kilowat and DKC721 varieties at ADF ratio, Hido, Kilowat and DKC721 at TDN ratio had the best values. According to the two-year average results obtained from the research, when the yield and quality factors were evaluated together, it was concluded that the Hido variety could be recommended for the conditions of the Lakes Region.
