INTERNATIONAL STUDENT ADMISSION OF TURKEY IN THE AKSARAY UNIVERSITY EXAMPLE AS THE PRACTICE OF PUBLIC DIPLOMACY

One of the most important indicators of globalization and internationalization in higher/tertiary education is international student mobility nowadays. The overlap of the students who want to take education and gain experience in different countries of the World and the existence of the countries that want to benefit in cultural, academic and economical sense from the “mobility” of those students brings with increasing number of international students. This study aims to analyze the current situation and recent developments in Turkey in a systematic way regarding the acceptance of international students who are considered as an significant tool of public diplomacy. The numerical data of the international students in Aksaray University was used to set an example for the study. The study also was made assessments regarding the significance and the content of programs especially Türkiye Scholarships and the Great Student Project, what kind of policies to follow, the historical experience and the position of Turkey in the international student mobility. As a result, recommendations have been made to improve the effectiveness of implementation within the scope of public diplomacy.
