    DEVELOPING THE LIFE-LONG LEARNING PERCEPTION SCALE THROUGH HISTORICAL TV SERIES

  • Abstract
    The purpose of the study is to develop a scale that will identify the lifelong learning perception of students gained through historical TV series. Survey model was used in the study. During the development of the scale, 150 items were originated through literature review and the number of the items were limited to 81 after the 13 specialists’ views were taken into consideration In order to develop the draft scale, it is conducted to 1060 students enrolled in secondary and high school in Bartın province in 2015-2016 academic year. According to the results of the factor analysis, KMO value was found to be 0.972 and Bartlet test value was found to be 25435.460 (Sd=1176, p=0.000). It was seen that factor weights range between 0.49-0.74 as a result of the analysis applied to the scale. As a consequence of the factor analysis, four factors (historical thinking, historical knowledge, historical awareness and learning how to learn) were generated, and it consisted 44 items that cover %48.064 of the total variance. Cronbach alpha reliability coefficient was found to be 0.961. Confirmative factor analysis of the scale was done using AMOS (Chi-square=25435,460, Sd=1176, x^2/Sd=2,345, GFI=0,916, CFI=0,948, RMSEA=0,036). According to these values, it is seen that the scale has validity and reliability.
