Abstract
One of the many variables that affect the problem-solving process of the individual is the type of mathematical knowledge they use in the solution process. To be able to produce solutions to an original mathematical problem and to decide what to do and when, it is necessary to be aware of the mathematical concepts and their interrelationships as well as the procedural knowledge. The study was conducted to determine the approaches of the individuals on the use of conceptual knowledge and procedural knowledge in problem-solving. With this aim, firstly the literature related to conceptual and procedural knowledge usage during problem-solving was analyzed and expressions which could be scale items were determined. Those statements were then presented to the field area experts and the necessary arrangements were made. The obtained draft scale form was applied to the university students studying in mathematics related departments of four different universities. The statistical analyzes were carried out after the applications and the draft was finalized. The obtained scale had three factors and 14 items. The Cronbach alpha value for the reliability of the developed scale was 0.806; McDonald s Omega value was found to be 0.796. This indicates that scale reliability is at an appropriate level.
