Abstract
Early diagnosis and intervention prevent the adverse effects of congenital hearing loss. The detection of hearing loss within first three months of life and starting in an early intervention program are the accepted standards in the today’s practice. Up to now, newborn hearing screening programs have been implemented in many countries to achieve the goals of early diagnosis and intervention. The current literature indicates a significant decrease in the age of diagnosis; however, little is known about the age of hearing aid fitting and early intervention in Turkish population. This study aims to examine the newborn hearing screening programs and its effects on the age of diagnosis and intervention in Turkey.
