Abstract
Opinions and knowledge of the teachers upon learning disability is also important for diagnosing the student, making the true guidance and evaluating. In this context determining the opinions of the class teachers about learning disability is critical in terms of presenting the deficiencies upon this subject. “Case study” which is one of the qualitative research designs was used in this study the aim of which is to determine the opinions of the class teachers about what the learning disability is. Maximum variation sampling method which is one of the purposeful sampling methods was benefitted in order to determine the participants of the study. Semi structured interview form was used to obtain the opinions of the participants. As a result of the analysis of the obtained data, it was precipitated that class teachers made definitions about learning disability which depend on learning, which are individual-based and about development, which are related to literacy and which are upon environmental factors. Thirteen different categories were obtained under these themes. It was seen in the study that the definitions put forward by the teachers were superficial and that only a few teachers drew attention to the aspects that the students have difficulty in (such as; reading and reading comprehension).
