Abstract
Textbooks are the teaching materials used in the transfer of the subjects in the curriculum and teaching concepts to students in a planned way. In order to prevent misconceptions, scientific mistakes should not be included in textbooks. The aim of this study is to examine the topics in the 11th biology textbook, used for 2018-2019 academic year, approved by the Ministry of National Education of Turkey. Data were generated using the document analysis method. In the study, human physiology, community and population ecology units were examined. The results were grouped according to the units and chapters. As a result of the research, it was determined that there are scientific mistakes in human physiology, community and population ecology units and unit evaluation questions. In addition, the correct information for the identified scientific mistakes was given in the light of the information in internationally available sources.
