Abstract
The purpose of this research is to evaluate the targets of high school chemistry teaching program based on Toulmin argument pattern components. For this purpose, chemistry teaching program targets were studied. To study the document of high school chemistry teaching program, five of Toulmin argument pattern components were used as evaluating criteria, which were claim, data, warrants, backings and rebuttals. In this research, case study was utilized as a qualitative method and teaching program was studied in depth. The high school chemistry teaching program was taken as the document. Content analysis was utilized. At the end of the research, it was found that each of the targets of high school chemistry teaching program consisted of at least one of Toulmin argument pattern components. The category frequencies of the targets consisted of only data component were 28, claim-data components were 43, claim-data-warrants components were 52, claim-data-warrants-backings components were four. As a conclusion, it could be said that the construction of the targets as arguments was average based on Toulmin argument because the frequency of claim-data-warrant category was regular.
