Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine the implementations for improving reading fluency skills of students with hearing impairments within the framework of teachers’ opinions in inclusive environments. The study, which was designed as phenomenological research based on a qualitative approach, included 10 participants and the data were collected by the interview technique. Inductive analysis was used in the analysis of the obtained data. The findings of the study indicate that teachers perform various reading fluency activities in their classrooms and sequential reading activity is intensively used. In addition, the general reading achievement and reading fluency levels of the students with hearing impairments in inclusive environments are at or below the level of their peers. Furthermore, participants emphasized that the curriculum and teacher training programs in terms of reading fluency instruction are inadequate. Consequently, although there are similarities between the reading fluency activities and the relevant interventions in the literature, there are differences in the systematic and planned implementation and the implementation principles.
